Follow Your Bliss

okay so thursday i went in for that interview. it was the principal, her secretary and a 5th grade teacher reading questions off a sheet of prepared interview questions. we qna'd for about 30 mins. they thanked me and the principal asked her secretary to tour me around the school. i was thinking they wouldn't show me the school if they didn't like me right? when we left they closed the door as if the principal and the other teacher were going to "discuss" me.
the school is really cute. they have the main building decorated with crafty like items. the original mascot is the roadrunners, however, the principal had it changed to the shining stars. i just so happen to LOVE stars! is it fate?

when we got back the principal offered me the position...and i took it! HOLY COW I'M SO SCARED!! ok maybe more like really nervous. I know anyone who's reading this doesn't care about what i think about teaching. but this is my journal! so read the following if you want, don't read if you don't want. the pros and cons.

the pros of moving to 4th grade in this district:
1. they pay more
2. 4th graders can work independently
3. getting deeper into subject matter
4. they'll actually 'get' my jokes
5. we can read novels, books i liked
6. i won't have to teach them how to stand and walk in a line
7. number grades! no more e,s,n,u
8. a gradebook on the computer that averages for you
9. they can read directions from the beginning of the year!
10. 15 mins. from home
11. they already know how to read

the cons of moving to 4th grade in this district:
1. i'll miss my friends and old students
2. some may be taller than me
3. they might be brave enough to argue back (1st graders don't)
4. i'll really have to grade papers now!
5. i'll be out in a portable
6. TAKS tests! (no TAKS in 1st)
7. it's new and i hate change

okay i guess the pros outweigh the cons. this may actually be one of the few times where change is good.

friday i slept in late because my brain was going a mile a minute the night before. i didnt fall asleep until 5 something in the morning. then i spent the day on the computer looking for 4th grade ideas. i also went shopping for birthday presents. while shopping for other people i found myself a really cute purse!

I invited me to go watch the notebook with her. oh my goodness. that movie was sooo good! i haven't cried so hard in a theater since steel magnolias. i honestly thought i had turn cold hearted because movies don't make me sob anymore, but it's not me! now i know it's the movies. i OBVIOUSLY can still sob! and i wasnt the only one either. i could hear sobs coming from all over. now at my age it's a little more on the embarrassing side, but i really couldn't help it.

saturday was cousin d's and j's birthdays. i spent the whole day cleaning because my cleaning schedule didn't work and hubster's cousin c and her boyfriend, r were going to spent the night. they went to schlitterbahn (the #1 waterpark in the country btw) during the day and then met up with hubster when he got off work. i on the other hand, went to d's for dinner and presents. then came home to eat and drink some more!

sunday was hubster's company picnic. it was fun. but i noticed that hubster and i were the only couple without kids. afterwards most of us went bowling. i haven't bowled in forever. i started off really good, which surprised me. but i only went downhill from there. but we had a good time. c and r met us there. they spent the day downtown on the riverwalk. we ended the day with pizza and paycheck (the movie). that was my weekend.

and today its been raining all morning. so i'll probably stay inside.
